If you’re new to Royal Dynamite, welcome! If it’s been a while, welcome back! We started this brand almost 10 years ago because we wanted to use our love of fashion to share our country and culture with the world.
See, our founders, Raphael Saye and Cecil Williams are both from Sierra Leone, a small West African country with an AMAZING history. It’s a history so rich that we have to share it.
Sierra Leone was founded in 1808 solely for freed slaves from the Americas. Together, these pioneers from numerous backgrounds, languages and cultures, formed a nation. The capital, Freetown, was recognizable from the sea because of beautiful, massive cotton trees. Freetown is a thriving, beautiful city, and is the inspiration behind our Freetown tee.
Ultimately, this history drives our collective love of fashion to inform, educate and inspire communities around the world. While we love to create pieces you’ll love, we hope that we can help you learn more about not just Sierra Leone, but other nations in West Africa as well.
