One of the biggest misconceptions some Americans have is that you have to travel to the Caribbean, Europe, or South America to have an amazing vacation experience. We’re here to tell you that’s just not true! Sierra Leone has beautiful beaches, amazing restaurants, and a culture like no other. Here are some of our favorite spots!
Olba is a Mediterranean restaurant conveniently located on the Lumley Beach strip in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The food is incredible, especially the shawarma. It's a place where you can eat, play, relax, and swim, all in one. The owner is a great host and always ensures the best customer service!
P-Lax is a night club and entertainment center that's focused on promoting entertainment in Sierra Leone and helping the young achieve and visualize their dreams. It's in the eastern part of Freetown, Sierra Leone, and is one of the only legit places on that side. They have a really dope VIP section where you can lounge, listen to great music and smoke some lemon mint shisha!
Companero is a family owned resort that has been present in the hospitality industry for the last 10 years. Companero Resort is based on one of the most beautiful beaches in the World, Bureh Beach, just next to Bureh Town. They have a private beach so their guests can enjoy their privacy. Their rooms have AC, TV, and a minibar. The vibe there is just great. The grilled lobster or red snapper meals are hands down the best we’ve had since we’ve started visiting Sierra Leone.
Fat Lee
Fat Lee is a restaurant and hotel complex located again on the eastern part of Freetown, Sierra Leone, called “Allen town”. Known for their delicious “plasas”, people frequent there at all times of the day. I would normally go there after a long day of hustling within the city because the rooftop provides incredible views to decompress with and the food was fresh and on point! If you are on that side of town, this is a great place to relax, eat, and if you are too tired to go home, you can rent a decent room for the night!
Chapter 1 Night Club
Chapter 1 is a nightclub situation in “upline” Sierra Leone (a/k/a the suburbs) . It’s specifically located in Bo. This is the #1 nightclub in the city. I went there on a leisure trip after working so hard in the city and this place was jumping! It's an upstairs, small, yet very colorful club. They blast the latest hits in afrobeats, dancehall, and amapiano! Even if you are in Bo, you have no choice really but to hit this spot. It’s a totally different vibe from the Freetown city!!
